Kindergarten Math Learning

Here are the standards for the end of the year for Kindergarten.

  • Count to 100 by ones and tens.
  • Count forwards in ones from different numbers.
  • Write numbers 0 to 20.
  • Count up to 10 objects arranged in a random arrangement.
  • Count up to 20 objects arranged in lines or arrays.
  • Compare and objects up to 10 and say whether one set is more, less or equal to another set.
  • Compose and decompose numbers from 11 to 19 into a ten and ones
  • Skip count by 2s, 5s and 10s.
  • Add and subtract within 10
  • Solve addition and subtraction word problems within 10
  • Decompose numbers less than 10 into pairs of numbers, e.g. 7=5+2 or 3+4 or 1+6, ...
  • Find number bonds to 10.
  • Know fluently addition and subtraction facts within 5
  • Compare objects in terms of measurements like length and weight, which is longer/shorter, heavier/lighter.
  • Classify and sort objects into given categories.
  • Count the number of objects that have a certain property.
  • Know and identify coins: penny, nickel, dime, quarter
  • Shape list: 2D shapes - squares, rectangles, circles, triangles, hexagons
  • Shape list: 3D shapes - cubes, cones, cylinders, spheres
  • Identify, describe and classify shapes.
  • Identify shapes in different orientations and sizes.
  • Identify 2D and 3D shapes.
  • Compare simple properties of 2D and 3D shapes such as number of sides or corners.
  • Compose simple shapes into larger shapes, e.g. compose two right triangles to make a rectangle.

Kindergarten Number Sense Area

These sheets involve counting objects grouped in tens and ones up to 25.

There is also a cutting and sticking activity involving matching a number to a picture grouped in tens and ones.

Number Charts up to 30

We have a range of different printable number charts up to 30.

Some of the charts are pre-filled to help identify and find numbers.

Some of the chart come as missing number worksheets.

Writing Numbers

Writing Numbers up to 20

These sheets will help your child learn to write and form the numbers from 1 to 20 correctly.

There is also a counting challenge on each sheet which involve shading the correct number of objects.

Count and Write Numbers to 10

The sheets here are counting sheets which involve counting animals and vehicles up to 10.

There is a selection of reference sheets for using in the classroom, or sending home to parents.

There are also some color-in sheets for counting and coloring up to 10 animals or vehicles.

These sheets are a perfect way to start kindergarten kids off with their learning.

Counting One More & One Less Worksheets

After your child has learnt to count objects up to 10 and write their numbers, they are ready to start counting one more and one less.

Most of the sheets focus on counting up to 10. There are also some worksheets that go up to 25.

Ordinal Number Worksheets

This page is all about ordinal numbers: first, second, third, etc.

There are a range of worksheets to help your child understanding how to use ordinal numbers.

Kindergarten Comparing Worksheets

These worksheets will help your child to compare and start to order different things.

Using these sheets will help your child to:

  • understand the concept of most, least, biggest, smallest;
  • count up to 10 objects;
  • compare a range of different objects;
  • compare numbers up to 20.

Kindergarten Sequencing Worksheets

These sheets will help your child learn to count on and back in ones, and put numbers up to 25 in the correct place in their sequence.

Useing these sheets will help you child to:

  • recognise number, letter and picture patterns;
  • count on and back in ones to 25;
  • sequence numbers to 25.

These resources will help your child to learn their 2D shapes, and also learn some of the properties they have.

Using these kindergarten math worksheets will help your child to:

Kindergarten Measuring Length Sheets

The kindergarten math worksheets on this webpage are all about measuring length in inches and centimeters.

There are two different easy activities. The first activity is to write down the number on the ruler pointed to by an arrow. The second activity involves writing down the correct measurement for the length of a line - a ruler has been correctly positioned underneath.

Kindergarten Money Worksheets - Recognising coins

These kindergarten math worksheets are all about recognising and counting coins: pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters.

The sheets involve recognising both faces of each coin.
